[ i just wanted to say that i've heard, from trusted sources, that Eminem's new album is bad, as in bad, not bad meaning good. {and i totally forget the site that had an article on Eminem's first album, similarly quoting Peter Piper} ]
you can never go wrong with Quentin "Norman" Cook, a.k.a. Fatboy Slim. why? because i recently re-acquired his CD, On the Floor at the Big Beat Boutique, and it's a constant reminder that the producer and DJ that we all should love is still loved by me.

no thanks
i'm so over the thursday of the third week of november being a day of thanks, as well as the day after being the biggest shopping holiday of the year. i am thankful that at least i get two days off, for a four-day weekend.
however, i'm not over getting up at 5:30AM to get to the mall that opens at 6AM to get some gifts for myself—i got an $80 cashmere scarf for free, btw—because i'm done with all my Christmas shopping already. yeh know!

neighbors neighbor neighbors
i've learned that people that live around you never have the same schedule as you. you'll never really see them, and you might think something is up when you don't. and you'll think even more if you're paying attention to them, too.
i live with: three freshman college girls downstairs—in a flat recently vacated of very quiet, old college girls; in the house next to me on the same floor, a quiet smoker couple that seem to have surfaced just recently, altho they might be new tenants; downstairs, in the smoker couple's house, a very loud, pork-eating, mah-jong playing, teen angstsy Asian family, and lastly, at the very bottom floor of my house, there's a single lady that likes to have barbecues.
so we all either go to school or have jobs and we're never home at the same time almost consistently, or not, and we'll all be away for periods of time, or we'll wait together for the bus across the street, or run into each other in the garage, or make loud noises or play music at different hours, and be abnormally normal, multi-ethnic human residents of San Francisco.

so, Emi was kicking me whilst having a bad dream, and i couldn't get back to sleep, so i chose to tackle a programming issue from work. this was @ around 2:46AM, when i created a working directory for my files.
it's now 5:30AM, and the alarm is set to go off in about 30 minutes. good thing we slept at 8:30PM. hahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

generosity of love
Emi's hair was pretty close to her waist, but recently, it was chopped off for donation. she had been growing it out for over a year now. and we've had to deal with hair being slept on, hairballs in the shower, and hair falling out everywhere. but i think she's just fine with it now. and how she can see our hair stylist every six weeks, which is always a fun visit.
and all you girls with hair that's inexplicably long to folks that normally don't see girls with long hair, should donate it to Locks of Love. yeah, i'm talking to all you filipino girls for the most part hahaha.

when one is as old as i am, a sleepover might consist of takeout sushi, some Comedy Central, two comforters, a laid-out futon, video games, and getting sleepy around 10PM. but i can still pass for under twenty, i think. and it doesn't really matter to me. hahaha.

handsome boy modeling school II
umm, i believe i was one of the few big fans of the first class of Handsome Boy Modeling School, of which i was glad to be a graduate, but this second class is very, very, handsome.
my favorites so far are "If It Wasn't For You," and "I've Been Thinking."

guilty corporate pressure
i forget how i was sold on getting a Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks, but it surely wasn't the red cup, nor the snowflakes, nor the slogan of "It's time for making merry." it prolly was the peppermint. and it was worth it. altho, my new name is "Troy."
but speaking of corporate things, since hearing about the Sears and Kmart merger, i'm beginning to question again: aren't there laws prohibiting monopolies and such? what other choice do the people have?

Trader Joe's DC
Emi and i went to the new Trader Joe's in Daly City tonight, just to hang out. and we got some quick food to go: a pretty healthy, 9-12 piece sushi tray for $5 and 2 burritos.
i want to note that West-lake Shop-ping Cennn-ter is actually looking a lot better now. it's not as cramped since they basically tore down a whole section in the backlot between the back of Safeway and BofA for the Trader Joe's. and it's been totally developed, along with the usual outdoor mall signage—telling the time, temperature and featured store specials. (year-old story here and interesting notes here.)
but it's still good, old multi-ethnic Daly City Westlake to me.

mr. hermit crab
imagine you're a 7-year old "terror," named by so-called "teachers," that has to be in school as early as 7:30AM, with a lot of untapped, creative potential. and imagine that one teacher, named Emi, understands you and really cares about you and your growth. now, imagine what kind of fun, month-long projects you could do—in which you are given the idea, and you go from concept to completion, requesting materials and assistance as necessary.

optimizism
so, the world as i know it—which is pretty large, but gets blurry as i look into the distance—is definitely in a state of turmoil. but when is it not? when it isn't. and, i still wake up to the news, and watch it when the reporter recites something ear-catching. but i have fortunately had the shroud lifted from over my head, and i talk back to the TV. but i am evil as well, having sold my soul's energy and plucked succulent ideas from the ether to work its way into your impulse to buy something, like a DVD or a movie ticket.
can't one just wait to experience the eye candy, laughter and/or stirring of the emotions again? that's what "entertainment" does, right? if you're bored, go do something. imagine what you are doing with the TV off, sitting in front of it with dinner. and i have, but still managed to be a zombie. if anything, at least watch TV or a movie with gender roles reversed. also, when watching commercials, realize that the people in those commercials are the target audience. are They targeting You? however, if you must, buy the best stuff, according to research and in accordance with your finances, or financing.
i want to change the world, but i've almost learned that i shouldn't promise what i can't deliver. however, the little things count. we are in a time of change. history is always in the making. let's make it, and create it, and control it. take control of the one that controls the past, so we can control the future. we are reaching critical mass. fight the powers that be. don't believe the hype. think globally, act locally. rise up. volunteer. work hard, play hard. enjoy.
ahh, but i'm sounding too priestly now. and it's not my job to herd sheep.
[ here is where i want to insert all the positive energy generating thoughts that i'd want to share but i am tired and must rest in my comfy bed. ]
however, it will still be a billion or less years from now when the sun will cease to shine, outside of those clouds, as the earth turns. as i've mentioned before, if you're reading this, you are fortunate. you prolly have clean water, or have access to means of cleansing it. and you don't have any bad diseases. and you have a roof over your head. and you're not dead, physically.
optimize your life optimistically. it's what i do everyday.

investigate the 2004 election
from MoveOn:
Questions are swirling around whether the election was conducted honestly or not. We need to know -- was it or wasn't it?If people were wrongly prevented from voting, or if legitimate votes were mis-counted or not counted at all, we need to know so the wrongdoers can be held accountable, and to help prevent this from happening again.
Members of Congress are demanding an investigation to answer this question. Join me in supporting their call, at:

Thanks.

patternity
i'm not quite sure what factors are contributing to my new sleeping pattern, altho for the past few days, i've begun sleeping around 9PM. however, i woke up around 1AM, thinking i was dehydrated, and walked to the fridge. my waking thought was that it was dark, but whatever light my expanded irises were using to see was monochromatically and tenderly enough. but when i switched on the hallway light, the darkness faded away into its corners.
i then had a late night tinkle, and ended up reading, while standing—after having gone already, geez—this National Geographic sample containing excerpts. after switching my weight between both legs while flipping through a bald eagle article and an update on the 1985 cover girl, and reading an article on more (as National-Geographically usual) archaeological Egyptian findings, complete with an exquisitely illustrated explanation of the beliefs of the afterlife, i tried to get back into bed.
[ oh yeah, scenes from The Shining keep creeping into my psyche lately, too. ]
getting back to sleep was unsuccessful. so i of course got my laptop, and i browsed my dailies a little bittle. and now, i have less than two hours to get some rest before Emi and i hit the gym. the scene before the curtain falls is this: rain subsiding, tires running over wet cement, wooden blinds closed, except for one allowing light from the gas station pricing sign across the street, wall-clock ticking, white mosquito net from Ikea, draped over four layers of sheets, Emi turned towards me, consciously and unconsciously gleaning warmth from my body, and i'm half sitting up, half lying down, in an old shirt with GAP Athletic on the front, that i'm finally "filling out," glasses on.
goodnight and thank you, Magaldi. (and sooooon enough, i'll have a music loop playing on here, so that i won't be the only one with Kid Creme's Austin's Groove stuck in my head. and and and, for the previous couple of days, it was that Destiny's Child song with the drumline snares!)

it's been a really, really long time since i got a McDonald's Happy Meal—prolly since at least any time before 1990, and certainly before the Daly City McDonald's was two floors!—but i got one today. and in it, i requested that Mr. Incredible be put in.
he doesn't have the kung-fu grip, but he's got some arm-swinging action.

bombscare
i guess, watching part of Fahrenheit 9/11 and ending near the part where there was discussion of controlling the American people through roller-coaster emotions of fear, made me think of bombs and being scared of them. also, reading the Coke Jams 2002 article in my Vice mag book and seeing Bombs Over Baghdad by Outkast listed, made me think of music.
therefore, i've gone back into my CD archives and found my old 2 Bad Mice full-length CD. along w/ 3 mixes of Bombscare and other beat and sample experimentations.
[ i wonder if the sm:)e label is still around? i had bought quite a few of their releases. ]

projectory trajectory
so, basically, if Bush wins this election, we're moving to Hawaii. off the mainland. or maybe Vancouver, in Canádia. hahaha. but i've decided to turn off the TV and eventually, i'm going to stop looking at sfgate. Emi says to learn to accept that Bush might win. i say that California, or even just the Bay Area should break off and become an island.
and why am i or we so surprised that Bush is taking all these states? it's because we're in a bubble. and because of that bubble, we just might not really feel the influences of having an absolute puppet running this country.
